4-way stomping blackened Oi! punk metal hell that has been doing the rounds for a while now… Two UK projects and Legion Blotan stalwarts Aad Sleck and Fangfoss come face to face with two Russian acts familiar to worshippers of the Horrible Room label and Pleskau Brethren Circle. Originally released in a low run, for Russian customers only, on Horrible Room, and with an LP version in the works, this new cassette version on Legion Blotan features an identical J-card layout and comes on black tapes with stickers.
Every time we hear word of new material from the elusive Welshman Cadwyr, the sole man behind the Celtic Rainforest project, we wonder just how far the material will be pushed and pulled into the furthest reaches of genre-bending obscurity this time… This collection of 30 minutes of new material does not disappoint and goes even further than one could have been imagined; taking in elements of Black & Death Metal, Noise & Power Electronics, Classical, Dungeon & Keller Synth, Folk Punk, Trip Hop, Synth Pop, Hard Rock, Industrial, Dance & Techno music as well as sweeping up everything else in between. “Roedden Ni Yma Gyntaf”, Welsh for “We Were Here First”, is not, musically at least, a spicy blend that will suit everyone, but it is also not readily a blend that could be pulled off a seamlessly by others as it is made to sound here. Bulk Carrier is a HNW project masterminded by USA based artist Kevin Blodgett, otherwise known from the Death Industrial project Sallow Statue, Noise project I Discern as well as being founder of the excellent Blood Ties label. This latest output features two brand new 15 minute slabs of fast paced harsh noise crunch and rumble with an evolving almost-dynamic take on the genre. With no audible space to breathe, these two sides of tape are a truly terrorising and claustrophobic piece of work befitting the immortalisation of the sinking of the MV Derbyshire, the largest British ship to ever have been lost at sea. The ship sank in 1980 during a typhoon off the southern coast of Japan, claiming the lives of all 44 people on board. The tape is presented on half black/half white shells inside a black bag with insert.
Utilising field recordings made while working as a steel fabricator, this new project by George Proctor (White Medal, Mutant Ape etc…) layers up and loops the everyday sounds of hard graft in a factory setting. The natural rhythm, noise and ambience are coupled with minimal analogue synth and feedback oriented processing. 30+ minutes of Industrial music, in the truest sense of the term. Shame Celebration is a Singapore/UK-based noise project executed by Damien Chong. With expertly crafted audible chaos, abrasive noise and ambient tranquility, “Two Snakes” well defined sound is very experimental in nature; all five tracks utilise multiple layers, styles, samples and approaches ranging from Dark Ambient and Harsh Industrial Noise to Electro-Acoustic elements with even a hint of rhythm and beyond. The material was mostly recorded in the dead of night using a single microphone, a distortion pedal and a laptop, during the process of recovery from a psychotic episode, making for a very uneasy yet cathartic listen. Thematically, Two Snakes addresses guilt and shame from hurting the ones we love. The subject of shame as a valid emotion is often overlooked in Western society, and perhaps it’s time to change that and celebrate our improper conscious! Presented in double-sided glossy J-Card covers, complete with on-tape stickers.
Feth is a Dungeon/Comfy Synth project from England playing the sounds of the woodland and beyond. “Numerus Bestiae” is a 60+ minute compilation of carefully selected tracks, previously only-digitally available, from several releases, now available for the first time on cassette. Taking in obscure literary references and shaping intricate, beautiful melodies and soundscapes to retell their forgotten tales. A true unique entity, Feth stands as a shining light in the wider Dungeon Synth scene, remaining completely at ease with ploughing their own furrow and taking the music where it goes, and when, very naturally. Turgid Vermin is proud to present it’s 3rd release in the form of highly experimental and free-form blackened noise by Finnish-Swedish project Unamed.
